I created this digital photo illustration of  Alesander Littlebow and his grandson, Yellow Hawk, as a message for the Milliennium  in the waning days of 1999.After seeing the pair at a powwow I couldn’t help but think  they represented the spirit of rebirth and continuation of heritage after years of government suppression. Littlebow, a Mesclero  Apache and sun dancer, said he and his grandson dance for the creator as well as for those who cannot dance for themselves. He added that through dance, regalia, stories and crafts he is passing on the traditions of elders to others.  At one of my one-man shows the pair both placed their hands in paint and then upon a canvas bearing their images, “The Legacy Continues.”
